Character Profile
“Two Weeks with the Queen”
Colin Mudford
Colin Mudford is an Australian 12 year old boy. He has a little brother called Luke. Collin is defiantly a great example of a optimistic, he believes that he can make everything work. Here is a extract from “Two Weeks with the Queen”. Did they expect him to believe that they could take a bloke’s heart out and put another one in, sew a foot back on and pull a torch key ring out of a girl’s stomach but they couldn’t cure Luke of cancer? Bull. This shows us that Colin has his own ideas about how the world functions.
Colin neglects showing his feelings he doesn’t show his love for Luke until he realises that Luke is actually going to die. Colin pushes himself to make people feel better. For example, he try’s to find the best doctor in the world so that Luke can get well and so that when Luke is better everyone else will be happy as well.
The nurse’s leapt into action when they saw the matron. They shooed Luke back into bed, snatched the cricket cap off Mrs. Budges head and gathered the bedpan wickets. “It’s okay it’s softball,’ said Colin going over to matron and showing her the ball, “We’re allowed indoors at home. This extract shows us more about Colin’s personality. When Colin says, “we’re allowed at home.” It shows us that he is trying to make the situation better for him and everyone else. This extract expresses Colin’s optimistic way of thing. Colin sees the world differently to everyone else, he sees a problem and there is a solution. There is no problem Colin can’t fix.
